How We Impact the Community
COAD believes PREPAREDNESS is our first RESPONSE to disaster. COAD offers year-round bilingual preparedness education through our Meet-Your-Neighbor(MYN) workshops and other partnerships. MYN fosters building connections which are critical for recovering from a disaster. Plus, preparing together is easier! In the past year, COAD has reached close to 20,000 residents with preparedness information and resources, including 6,000+ in-person engagements. Our outreach serves all Napa County residents, while prioritizing vulnerable populations.
Since 2016, COAD has been an essential partner in supporting the community to recover from disasters and emergencies, including from the 2017 Napa Complex Wildfires, COVID-19 pandemic, two back-to-back wildfires in 2020, power outages, and the winter storms in 2023 and 2024. COAD leads the collaborative response of its coalition of 100+ member agencies. Through our network, COAD leverages and coordinates the acquisition and distribution of critical resources to meet community needs beyond the scope of government. During 2020, COAD coordinated services reached approximately 22,000 community members, providing over $8.5 million in assistance.
