How We Impact the Community

We work to get people outside and on their bikes. We do this by increasing awareness and improving the conditions of our streets for biking so that residents and visitors alike can enjoy the many benefits of biking, improving their health and our environment at the same time. We’re doing this in three ways:

1) We educate: Through free school-based bicycle safety education and Family Biking Workshops, we teach over 1,500 youth and parents traffic safety and bike-handling skills that build confidence and independence. This last year, we distributed over 700 helmets to youth in need during our in-class education.

2) We encourage: We coordinate Bike and Walk to Work & School Days and Napa Bikefest, engaging over 4,000 youth and adults throughout Napa County in healthy, active transportation.

3) We advocate: We work closely with elected officials, public agencies, and local residents to make our transportation network safer for bicyclists and pedestrians. Our advocacy successes include new buffered bike lanes, more high-visibility crosswalks in school zones, and increased bike lane sweeping.
