How We Impact the Community
Afterschool in the Fall and Spring, you will see 500 girls, ages 8 to 13, building their resilience in 25 schools throughout Napa County. In small groups, the participants learn emotional, social, and physical health strategies from two community volunteers using the updated curriculum from Girls on the Run International. We provide an inclusive and diverse space for girls to talk, share, and grow as their body changes through puberty. Over 8 weeks the participants meet 2X/week for 75 minutes. The girls experience a sense of achievement by finishing a non-competitive 5K and the power of service by completing a community project. The need for mental health awareness in youth is at unprecedented levels. In girls the mental health crisis is twice as high as males. A girl’s confidence drops by 30% between eight and fourteen. We provide financial assistance for 80% of our families. Our work impacts girls during this critical time and helps them be bold and bright leaders who have the confidence to achieve their limitless potential.
